I can't help being excited about being able to read new Crichton books so long after his death, but on the other hand I can't help thinking that the ones that were completed but never published, weren't published for a reason. Pirate Latitudes was a disappointment. A Murder in Hollywood has major errors.

I’m the same. I’m very excited whenever something new comes out, but I’ve been disappointed, primarily with Eruption. That seemed like it wasn’t close to completion, hence why they had Patterson work on it. Was not a fan.

But I did enjoy Pirate Latitudes a lot. I get the criticism, the pacing changed significantly the last few chapters. It felt very rushed.

Dragon Teeth was fun. And I really enjoyed Mirco; Richard Preston did a great job with that.

I assume as time goes on we’ll get less complete manuscripts. I’m still waiting for Travels 2, he claimed he was working on that in an interview.

Great find! I hadn’t seen that quote about what they ate for breakfast. Truly, historical research can be maddening. Glad he revisited the genre so we could get Timeline.
